POLICY OF HEALTHY COEXISTENCE

In Thomas Edison School we promote an environment of peace in which differences and the fundamental principles of healthy coexistence and peace are respected within the regulations aforementioned in this Manual. Edison is a place free of drugs, alcohol, harassment and violence. Harassment of any kind against any member of our school community is prohibited. Edison

promotes also a drug and alcohol free environment.

Our approach is preventive in order to fulfill the Edison’s Mission aimed at fully developing an individual capable of adapting to the challenges of a globalized society, and with strong values. We ensure that our students develop their emotional intelligence and are capable of making correct and responsible decisions. We aspire to develop individuals that are thoughtful, analytical and conscious in their decision making process. To achieve this, we believe in promoting trust and credibility within our community. We direct our students to reflect on their behavior and the benefit not only in the short term, but also throughout their entire life. Dialogue is encouraged. We seek for the student to develop a sense of belonging and relevance in developing social value and character formation. Group workshops are offered to work on concepts such as peer pressure, respect and consideration among peers. There is dialogue about effective management of relationships and understanding and respecting differences. At Edison we try to maintain an environment free of drugs, alcohol and violence. Likewise, there is a procedure to receive and resolve complaints about any particular matter is notified. We seek an environment in which courtesy, understanding, civility and mutual respect prevail. The physical environment is shared and as such we must keep it free of trash and property damage, for the delight of all.
