About us

It is our interest that all Piper children have a successful and enjoyable life. We are committed to working together to ensure that our students thrive in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment.

Mission

The mission of “The Piper Lighthouse” is to provide a learning environment with a variety of intentional, innovative and playful activities that support the appropriate development of growth stages, and the abilities that distinguish the Edison student. These activities include music, art, physical education, experiments, strategies that support bilingual language development and family/community-connection experiences, among others, in an environment that is filled with love and mutual respect. "The Piper Lighthouse” experience is the beginning of the development of the whole child.

Facilities

Piper facilities are located in Edison. They include classrooms that are ready to receive the children, bathrooms, stations for reading, music, home life, tables, chairs and rest areas. The playground is ready for play activities that are free or directed. The basketball court, library, lunchroom, laboratories, nursing and other areas in Edison are used as by Piper as needed.

Special Activities

Boys, girls and parents will have the opportunity to participate in special activities. These activities will all be related to their experiences in “Piper”. Additional activities may include a Family Day or Field Day. If the parents are interested in celebrating a birthday in “Piper”, they must coordinate previously with the Educational Coordinator at least two weeks in advance to be able to plan and organize the activity.

Staff

The Center’s staff includes the School Director, and Educational Coordinator, Teachers and Assistants with the required education. Matters pertaining to finances are handled by the Finance Office and matters related to enrollment are handled by the Admissions Office. Situations related to medical treatment and medical emergencies in charge of the Registered Nurse who is a full-time employee of Edison. Situations that require the intervention of specialists will be handled with the support of our School Counselor. Safety situations will be handled by Security Guards on site. Piper functions under statutes from the Board of Directors of Thomas Alva Edison School.

Nutrition

The children will have lunch in Piper classrooms. They enjoy a menu prepared by a licensed nutritionist. There is a morning and afternoon snack break. Parents are responsible for providing snacks and water to their children in a plastic bag.

The requirements for admission to “Piper” are as follows:

  • Be two (2) months of age or older
  • Admission Application
  • Photos 2 x 2
  • Social Security Card (copy)
  • Original Birth Certificate (copy)
  • Vaccination Certificate PVAC-3 (original)
  • Health Certificate
  • Development Screening ASQ
  • Oral Health Assessment Form
  • Interview
